Which colours of clothes and turbans were preferred by the Noble Prophet ﷺ ?
Answer:
The Holy Prophet (صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالىٰ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِه وَ سَلَّمَ) used to like the colour white to a great extent. He (صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالىٰ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِه وَ سَلَّمَ) said,
البسوا البياض فإنها أطهر و أطيب و کفنوا فيها موتاکم
“Wear white clothes because they are cleaner and purer. Shroud your deceased in them.” (Shamāil At Tirmidhī, An Nasaī, Ibn Mājah)
Also, a Hadīth in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaibah mentions the colours green, black, red etc. as well,
أدرکت المهاجرين الأولين يعتمون بعمائم کرابيس سود و بيض و حمر و خضر
“I found the first migrants wearing turbans tied with fabrics of black, white, red and green.” (Kitāb ul ‘Aqīqah, Volume 8, Page 241)
There is a Blessed Hadīth which states,
عن أبي رمثة التيمي قال: أتيت النبي صلي اللّٰه تعاليٰ عليه وسلم و عليه ثوبان أخضران
“Narrated by Abū Ramthah At Taimī (رضي الله عنه), who said, “I came to the Prophet (صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالىٰ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِه وَ سَلَّمَ) whilst he was wearing two green garments.” (Mishkāt ul Masābīh, Page 376, Chapter of Dress) .
دخل النبي صلي الله تعالى عليه وسلم مكة يوم الفتح وعليه عمامة سوداء
“The Prophet (صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالىٰ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِه وَ سَلَّمَ) entered Makkah Al Mukarramah on the day of the Conquest of Makkah Al Mukarramah – he (صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالىٰ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِه وَ سَلَّمَ) was wearing a black turban.” (Shamāil At Tirmidhī)
